EVPN is free to use. It is funded by clearly labelled commercial placements on EVPN’s own website and apps — never by anything derived from your VPN traffic.
A · The short version
There is no paid tier, no subscription, no checkout and no bandwidth cap you can pay to lift. Every privacy feature EVPN ships is available to everyone using it. “Free” here does not mean a limited version of a paid product — there is no paid product.
Most free VPNs are paid for with traffic data. EVPN is paid for with clearly labelled placements on surfaces EVPN owns.
B · How EVPN is funded
We promote our own products and other projects in the FinDech ecosystem. No money changes hands with an outside party; the placement carries a “From FinDech” label so you know who is behind it.
EVPN links to an external product and earns a commission if you sign up. The commission is what pays for gateways and bandwidth. These placements carry an “Affiliate” label.
A company pays to appear in a fixed slot for a fixed period. It buys attention on an EVPN surface and nothing else — no data, no ranking influence, no access to users. Labelled “Sponsored”.
Longer-running commercial agreements — for example a distribution or bundling arrangement. Labelled “Partner offer”. The commercial terms never include user data.
Every one of these is a commercial relationship, and we would rather write that down than call it a “partnership programme”. What none of them involve is your traffic.
C · The boundary
Your browsing activity, DNS queries, destination addresses and traffic contents fund nothing and target nothing. Specifically, EVPN does not do any of the following:
D · What a placement may know
Choosing which placement to show is allowed to read these six things and nothing else. This is enforced in code, not only in policy: the selection function accepts a fixed set of fields, and a request carrying a visited domain, a DNS query, a destination IP or an advertising identifier is rejected outright.

The client build, so an offer is not shown to an app that cannot use it.
The language the app reports, so copy is readable.
The EVPN location you chose in the app. Used for the one request and never written to a promotion record.
Whether the campaign is running today.
Whether the account is eligible to see a placement — for example, free, trial or paid. Used only for eligibility, not behavioral targeting.
E · Where they appear
Every surface is enumerated explicitly in code, so a placement cannot be added to a screen that was never meant to carry one.
A placement never appears inside a website you visit through the tunnel. EVPN does not modify the pages you load; the only surfaces we can place anything on are our own app and our own website.

Every placement carries one of those four labels. There is no unlabelled state — the label is a required field on the creative, so a placement without one cannot be published.
F · Separation from the tunnel
The system that sells a placement should not be able to reach the system that carries your traffic.
G · What we measure
Raw events exist only long enough to remove duplicates and are then deleted; the durable record is a daily aggregate. Measurement is first-party — there is no third-party measurement script in the app or on this site.
H · External links
A placement takes you to an external website. Once you are there, that company’s own privacy policy applies and EVPN’s does not. Affiliate parameters are attached at the campaign level and are the same for everyone who clicks — nothing about you is added to the link.
